Momma's Oatmeal Cookies


  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Salt
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Chocolate chips, raisins or cranberries if desired


  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Mix first six ingredients together in a large bowl. Add butter, egg and vanilla. Beat well until sticky. Stir in oats and any extra goodies like chocolate chips.
  3. Form into small balls, dip in sugar. Place dough balls on an un-greased cookie sheet and lightly squish each ball down with a fork.
  4. Bake at 375F for 10 minutes.

    I stole this recipe from my mom, these are the simply the best chewy cookies. I loved dipping the dough balls in sugar as a child.
